The Northern Territory Statehood Steering Committee is a group of people like you from all over the Northern Territory. Their job is to talk about Statehood with everyone living in the Northern Territory. The Committee itself, its individual members and its representatives plan to visit communities across the Territory to examine the issues Territorians want to discuss about Statehood. The Committee wants to hear your views on Statehood. The opinions of Territorians who agree with Statehood as well as those who may not be comfortable with the idea will be heard. Statehood has been a dream for many Territorians since limited Self Government was granted to the Northern Territory in 1978. Democracy demands Territorians have a voice equal to all other Australians. Fairness dictates Territorians decide how they want to be governed just like Australians living in States. True self determination can only come with Statehood. Contents |
