First Public Forum on Statehood
The Statehood Steering Committee will hold its first public forum on Statehood in Alice Springs tomorrow.
The forum is called Statehood - The Future in our Hands.
It will focus on communicating the messages to promote Statehood and why it is up to us as Territorians to decide on a model for the future governance of the Northern Territory that suits us all.
“We have placed an announcement in newspapers and people have starting talking about it so lets see if the public want to come along and meet the Statehood Steering Committee.” Co-Chair Sue Bradley said today.
“This is an ideal opportunity for Central Australians in Alice Springs to meet the members of the Statehood Steering Committee.
“It is an essential part of the Committee’s work that we are open and accessible to the communities we meet in. We are in Alice Springs to meet local people and listen to their views. If you support Statehood or even if you don’t come and tell us why.” Sue Bradley urged.
The Public Forum on Statehood will be held at the Convention Centre at 12 noon Friday 22 April.
